What is the Median?
There is a women’s equality movement transpiring, growing stronger than ever before – but its 2022 and we are unfortunately still drastically far away from gender parity in the rooms where the most important decisions get made.
Above the Median highlights powerful, successful women and their stories to provide young women with role models, mentors, and leaders that they can look up to and learn from. We believe leadership is a sport and we are here to train the next leaders of tomorrow.
The Facts
McKinsey & Company’s Women in the Workplace 2019 study shows we have a lot of work to do. Women continue to be under-represented at every level, but more importantly above the median level of management. About 1 in 5 C-suite executives is a woman—and only 1 in 25 C-suite executives is a woman of color. Above The Median’s name comes from the vision that we can get more women above this line in corporate America.
